{"id":1025,"date":"2017-04-03T21:43:14","date_gmt":"2017-04-03T08:43:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.rogerdennis.com\/ideaport\/?p=1025"},"modified":"2017-04-03T21:50:28","modified_gmt":"2017-04-03T08:50:28","slug":"additional-conference-presentation-notes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.rogerdennis.com\/ideaport\/?p=1025","title":{"rendered":"Additional Conference Presentation Notes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Late last week I spoke at a conference in New Zealand which had an unusual audience. \u00a0It was made up of deep thinkers who deal regularly with ambiguity at the sharp end of policy. \u00a0The Q&amp;A session was fascinating, and a lot of attendees asked for more information. \u00a0With this in mind, here&#8217;s a few bullet points that provide more context on some of the topics:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Practical Tips for Online Privacy<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>never connect to a public wifi, even in hotels &#8211; they&#8217;re magnets for hackers and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tripwire.com\/state-of-security\/latest-security-news\/seven-year-old-hacks-public-wifi-in-under-11-minutes\/\">stealing your data is literally child&#8217;s play<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>when going online away from work or home, either use your mobile phone as a hotspot, or purchase a virtual private network service. \u00a0It increases security and makes it harder to steal your data when online.
