Although &#8211; as with all client engagements &#8211; I cannot disclose the nature of the work, the Strategic Ventures Manager based in Silicon Valley had this to say:\u00a0 &#8220;<i>Roger recently completed a piece of strategy work for the Fonterra Ventures team. We were impressed with the level of thinking, the balanced opinions provided and the ability to provide clarity on an ambiguous topic. His considered approach and efficient turn around under time pressure is something we strongly valued and due to this high level of service we hope to continue working alongside Roger and his team.&#8221;<\/i><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>co-author of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.researchgate.net\/publication\/337228461_Lessons_From_the_West_African_Ebola_Outbreak_in_Relation_to_New_Zealand's_Supply_Chain_Resilience\">report<\/a> in 2015 analysing the supply chain impact of a pandemic on New Zealand.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>founder of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sensingcity.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Sensing City<\/a>, a project to create real time data flows about city environments from the rebuild of the city of Christchurch (New Zealand).\u00a0 This work involved the connection of global trends with a strategic opportunity at a country level, and is a prime example of the need to link foresight, strategy and innovation.\u00a0 As such it attracted considerable media attention including coverage by the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ft.com\/intl\/cms\/s\/0\/7fa44168-2c26-11e3-acf4-00144feab7de.html#axzz2iUULKh00\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">FT <\/a>and <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.scientificamerican.com\/guest-blog\/2013\/07\/16\/sensing-cities-smart-citizens\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Scientific American<\/a>. \u00a0The project closed in early 2016 due to lack of speed of uptake by the rebuild programme.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Repeat invitee to Singapore Foresight Week.\u00a0 Sponsored by the Foresight group in the Prime Minister&#8217;s office, this event brings together around twenty leading thinkers from around the world to debate and discuss Singapore&#8217;s future.\u00a0 After being invited to the first event in 2011, I had the privilege of being invited to attend the following event in 2013 (Foresight Week is held every two years).\u00a0 Also in attendance were <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Peter_Schwartz_%28futurist%29\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Peter Schwartz<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Dave_Snowden\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Dave Snowden<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Paul_Saffo\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Paul Saffo<\/a>.\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rogerdennis.com\/ideaport\/?p=807\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Full details can be found here<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Engaged by one of New Zealand\u2019s largest healthcare providers to break the paradigms around health thinking in order to create a vision for a sustainable system in 2020. The process started in 2007 and is sponsored by the CEO and Chairman of the Board.\u00a0 It has involved running a team of up to eight consultants, a series of large scale workshops and considerable innovative thinking about how to engage the workforce. The transformation programme has attracted considerable international attention from people like <a href=\"http:\/\/www.innovationunit.org\/our-people\/our-staff\/david-albury\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">David Albury <\/a>(ex-advisor to Tony Blair), organisations such as the NHS Institute for Innovation and Improvement, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/healthcare-network\/2017\/aug\/25\/what-can-the-nhs-learn-from-new-zealand?CMP=ema-1700&amp;CMP=\">The Guardian<\/a> newspaper and the London-based heath think-tank called <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hsj.co.uk\/opinion\/canterbury-tale-making-a-success-of-integrated-care\/5063073.article#.Us3Pu_b1uZu\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The Kings Fund<\/a>.\u00a0 In addition the programme was used in 2013 as a case study in an international tour by <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Clayton_M._Christensen\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Clayton Christensen <\/a>(in 2011, Forbes magazine called him &#8220;one of the most influential business theorists of the last 50 years).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Part of the core team for the world&#8217;s largest foresight programme &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.futureagenda.org\">Future Agenda<\/a>. The programme ran over 50 workshops in 25 countries around the world and engaged with scientists, academics, entrepreneurs and politicians.\u00a0 The full output of the programme &#8211; and the book that summarises everything &#8211; is online.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Co-led a programme called Technology Futures (August 2006 \u2013 March 2008) for the Shell GameChanger team in The Hague.\u00a0 The programme identifies business opportunities in adjacent sectors in a twenty year time frame.\u00a0 A critical part of the programme requires the identification of forty world experts in areas as diverse as genetic engineering and architecture, then working with them in a group environment in locations around the globe. Co-wrote and edited the book that resulted from the programme (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.rogerdennis.com\/ideaport\/wp-content\/uploads\/Technology-Futures-2007-An-Innovaro-publication-for-Shell-GameChanger.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">which can be downloaded here as a PDF<\/a>).
